The U.S. Food and Drug Administration commissioned this comic as part of their The Real Cost campaign.

The client wanted a creepy horror comic that would alert high school readers to the dangers of vaping. We were not permitted to show any actual vaping in the comic, or make any reference to it, so the message had to be purely allegorical. I worked with the editors and artist to find unique ways of making the message clear despite these restrictions, while also creating a comic entertaining and spooky enough to hold young readers’ attention.
