Writer: Matt Carr

After consuming every animal on Earth, humanity turns to the stars, enslaving, butchering and consuming creatures from across the galaxy. But now the food is fighting back — in spectacularly gory fashion! Tuck in your napkin for this messy, pulpy, over-the-top tale of bloody revenge. Dinner is served!

As an editor, sometimes you spend months working with the team, meticulously crafting the story through each step of the process.

And sometimes your biggest contribution is just casting the dang thing. When writer Matt Carr approached me with this story and told me he wanted to make it — as the solicitation says — a messy, pulpy, over-the-top tale of bloody revenge, I said, “say less.” Rather than sending him several artist portfolios, as I usually do, I sent him Lane Lloyd’s portfolio and said “this is our person. But if you disagree, I’ll send you more options.” Matt agreed, and we were off to the races.

Lane usually letters themself, but for this project i also brought in Sean Rinehart, a chameleonic letterer who developed a style that perfectly complemented Lane’s wild and violent art and colors.

Sometimes editing is a hard job, and sometimes it’s just a matter of putting everything in place, to guarantee a successful execution.

…I wonder if there’s a French term for that?
