Simon the teenage troll boy is on the run from the United States military! But with the government hot on their trail, Simon and his friends soon discover that the world is a far more complex place than they knew—brutal beyond comprehension, and beautiful beyond imagination.
Past the Last Mountain is a pulpy, subversive, and ultimately heartfelt tale about coming-of-age under mounting oppression—a searing and timely story you'll want to revisit again and again.
”One of my favorite discoveries of the year. A series that entertains and makes you think.”

Past the Last Mountain is a book with a long and winding history. It began when a comics publisher requested a longer story in the tone of the one-shot Orc Girl.
The project eventually morphed into a digital-only series, followed by first Kickstarter, collecting the four-issue series; the Orc Girl one-shot; and eighteen short comics set in the same universe, all written by Paul and each drawn by a different artist, in a wide variety of styles. This collection won the Silver Ledger Award for excellence in Australian comics.
It also included the first interior comics work of Jeffrey Veregge, an acclaimed Native American artist and muralist who passed away in 2024.
Most recently, the original Past the Last Mountain mini-series was released as a slimmed-down, digest-size collection aimed squarely at the Young Adult market.
