The Airship

In 1896, a mysterious airship abducts Elizabeth's sister and takes her to a city in the sky. Years later, Elizabeth grows up and becomes one of the first woman airplane pilots-and she's still searching for her sister! Action-packed, moving, and ethereal, this historical fantasy about the dangerous early days of aviation is based on real-world characters and UFO lore!

The Airship was another project where I assembled the team and oversaw the production process, though in this case it was a smaller team than usual—creator Nico Longoria handled the line art, coloring and lettering. Her gorgeous, atypical art was perfectly suited to this touching, magical story. But Sterling had a very specific vision for the story, and I worked closely with him and Nico to make sure the story beats landed how he wanted, with maximum impact on the end reader. The result is a gorgeous, emotional comic unlike anything else on the stands.
